5 TOP DAY HIKES
Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks

Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks truly have a day hike for everyone, even if you aren't visiting for a long time. Not only are they home to the world's largest tree but also stunning mountains, caverns, canyons, and waterfalls.

Not included in the list because it's the most famous spot in the parks, but the General Sherman Tree Trail is the #1 must do "hike" in Sequoia. The easy out-and-back 0.7 mile trail to this incredible spectacle is paved and accessible year-round. Fun fact: General Sherman is already the world's biggest tree and continues to grow at a rate of about 0.4 inches in diameter per year.

Congress Trail – This is the perfect hike to start once you have visited General Sherman because that's where the trail begins. It offers an easy and peaceful way to meander through the largest sequoias in the park. The 2.9 mile trail is paved the whole way and great for families.
Getting There

North Grove Loop – A bit less crowded than the General Sherman Tree Trail, this trail offers a great way to see more of the majestic trees close up while escaping from some of the crowds. The 1.4 mile loop is an easy trail through mixed forest and can be combined with Dead Giant Loop for a 3.25 mile total hike.
Getting There

Zumwalt Meadow Trail – At just 1.5 miles over easy terrain and boardwalks, this is a great trail for families. Enjoy the picturesque meadow, Kings River, and stunning views of the North Dome and Grand Sentinel granite formations. For those looking for a slightly longer hike, this trail links to the River Trail that leads to Roaring River Falls for a total 3.9 miles.
Getting There

Tokopah Valley Trail – This is a 3.7 mile out and back trail that leads you through a pine forest and ends at Tokopah Falls, which is the tallest waterfall in Sequoia National Park. Take in the scenery along this hike as you move along a river, meadows, and creeks. Note: This hike is rated as easy but the trail crosses over some boulders at the end as you approach the falls.
Getting There

Sugarbowl Trail – This scenic loop features a lake and will take you through Redwood Canyon which houses the world's largest grove of sequoias. The trail is a 6.5 mile loop so it requires a bit more time but is manageable for most skill levels and a great way to get far away from the crowds.
